A West Virginia doctor sentenced to 41 months in prison for evading $2.42 million in payroll taxes and obstructing justice.
A West Virginia physician, Nitesh Ratnakar, 50, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for failing to pay $2.42 million in payroll taxes and filing false tax returns from 2020 to 2022.
He also obstructed a federal investigation by providing false documents to a grand jury.
Ratnakar, who owned a gastroenterology practice and medical equipment company in Elkins, will serve one year of supervised release after his prison term.
The case was prosecuted by the IRS Criminal Investigation Division and U.S. Attorney’s Office.
