UK PM meets abuse survivor to discuss new child cruelty registry.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer met with Paula Hudgell and her adopted son Tony, a survivor of severe childhood abuse, to discuss a proposed national child cruelty register.
The plan, backed by the Home Office, would require individuals convicted of child cruelty, neglect, abandonment, female genital mutilation, or infanticide to register with police and report major life changes, such as moving, changing identity, traveling abroad, or living with children again.
The measure aims to extend monitoring similar to that of sex offenders.
The initiative follows years of advocacy by Hudgell, who called the meeting emotional and expressed hope the register will prevent future tragedies.
