Trump admin removes 307 Iranians caught at border, citing security risks and third-country deportations.
Since President Trump took office in 2025, Border Patrol has apprehended 307 Iranians attempting to enter the U.S. illegally, all of whom have been detained or removed, unlike under the Biden administration when nearly half of 1,500 apprehended Iranians were released despite being classified as Special Interest Aliens due to national security concerns.
Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism, refuses to repatriate its citizens, and ongoing U.S. military actions prevent return, so apprehended Iranians are being transferred to third countries with which the U.S. has deportation agreements.
The Trump administration is also seeking to locate and apprehend an estimated 18,000 known or suspected terrorists, including hundreds of Iranians, released under previous policies.
The third-country deportation program remains legally upheld despite legal challenges.
