The Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced it will contest 291 of 294 assembly seats in West Bengal’s April 2026 elections, with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee running from Bhabanipur. The party, confident of winning over 226 seats, released a candidate list featuring diverse representation, including 52 women and candidates from marginalized communities. Three Darjeeling hill seats will be contested by ally BGPM. Banerjee criticized the BJP and Election Commission, while her main opponent, the BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, is set to challenge her in Bhabanipur. The elections will be held in two phases.
