Philippine flight surcharges to jump to record highs in April due to soaring fuel costs from Middle East tensions.
Philippine airfares are set to rise sharply in early April as the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) increased fuel surcharges to Level 8, the highest in two years, due to soaring global jet fuel prices linked to Middle East tensions.
Domestic flight surcharges may reach up to PHP 787, while international flights could see fees climb as high as PHP 6,208.98, more than doubling previous levels.
The CAB shortened the surcharge review period to 15 days to better align with rapid fuel cost changes.
The move, effective April 1–15, aims to help airlines manage rising operational costs amid a 94% annual fuel price increase, though airlines are using efficiency measures to offset the impact.
