Paraguay completed Mercosur-EU trade deal ratification, paving the way for a major global free trade zone.
Paraguay became the final South American country to ratify the Mercosur-European Union trade agreement on March 17, 2026, completing regional approval.
The deal, negotiated over 25 years, will create one of the world’s largest free trade zones, linking countries with over 700 million people and 25% of global GDP.
The Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies unanimously approved it, following Senate approval, and it now awaits President Santiago Peña’s signature.
