The directive, issued through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and aligned with Section 88(1) of the 2026 Electoral Act and INEC’s primary timetable, applies to ministers, advisers, special assistants, directors-general, and heads of federal agencies. Officials must submit resignations via the OSGF office by the deadline. The move aims to ensure electoral fairness, prevent misuse of public office, and uphold transparency ahead of the 2027 polls.
