The plan includes screening and brief intervention practitioners in seven hospitals, peer-led follow-up services for people leaving emergency departments after substance-related incidents, and efforts to combat fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and promote alcohol-free pregnancies.
Since 2023, the addiction workforce has grown by over 11%, and counsellor vacancy rates have dropped from 14% to 5.5%.
