The New York Islanders have signed 19-year-old defenseman Kashawn Aitcheson, their 17th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, to a three-year, $3.225 million entry-level contract.
Aitcheson, who played for the Barrie Colts in the OHL, led all defensemen in goals (28), power-play goals (15), points (70), and plus/minus (+45) this season.
He set franchise records for most goals and career points by a defenseman, earned a spot on the OHL Second All-Star Team, and contributed to Canada’s gold at the 2024 U18 World Championship and bronze at the 2025 World Junior Championship.
