New Hampshire's Supreme Court ordered a review of cellphone evidence in the 2022 double murder case, citing illegal warrantless data collection.
The New Hampshire Supreme Court has ordered a lower court to re-examine cellphone evidence used to arrest Logan Clegg in the 2022 double murder of Steve and Wendy Reid in Concord, ruling that police violated his constitutional rights by obtaining location data from Verizon without a warrant.
The court found that police could have sought a warrant while requesting data, rejecting claims of emergency necessity, and noted alternative opportunities to apprehend Clegg, including at JFK Airport.
The decision, issued on March 17, 2026, does not overturn Clegg’s 50-year sentence but requires a lower court to assess whether the evidence could have been lawfully obtained by June 15.
If deemed inadmissible, a new trial may be warranted.
Clegg, who maintains his innocence, remains in prison.
