Nagaland's government urges Myanmar's warring sides to exclude Nagas, citing sovereignty and over 80 Naga deaths in the conflict.
The Federal Government of Nagaland has urged Myanmar’s military junta and the National Unity Government to exclude Nagas and their territory from the ongoing civil conflict, asserting its sovereignty since 1947 and a 1951 plebiscite.
It reported over 80 Naga deaths fighting with Kachin rebels and accused both sides of detaining and forcibly recruiting civilians, causing humanitarian crises.
The FGN emphasized that Nagas are not part of Myanmar, condemned unauthorized Naga involvement in the conflict, and called for peace, dignity, and recognition of Naga rights, informing India of the situation.
