The MK Party has reinstated John Hlophe as first deputy president and parliamentary leader after a review of his suspension, according to party secretary-general Siboniso Nomvalo.
The move follows a bilateral meeting between Hlophe and President Jacob Zuma, who had previously suspended Hlophe over concerns about his conduct, including the abrupt removal of parliamentary chief whip Colleen Makhubele and her replacement with MP Des van Rooyen.
An independent legal panel had been convened to investigate allegations, but Zuma decided to restore Hlophe to his roles, citing discussions during their meeting.
The reinstatement, effective immediately, aims to promote unity and advance the party’s objectives.
