Kannur Police and BSF personnel conducted a joint route march in Panur on March 18, 2026, as a security precaution ahead of Kerala’s single-phase Assembly elections on April 9.
The march, led by officers from four police stations and 53 BSF personnel, began at Makool Peedika and ended at Panur Police Station.
The 2026 elections will feature a contest between the Left Democratic Front (LDF), United Democratic Front (UDF), and National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The LDF, which won 99 seats in 2021, seeks a second consecutive term, while the UDF and NDA aim to regain ground.
Vote counting is set for May 4, with the current assembly’s term ending May 23.
