flag India approves ₹6,969 crore highway project to cut travel time between Barabanki and Bahraich.

The Union Cabinet has approved a ₹6,969.04 crore project to build a 101.515 km four-lane access-controlled National Highway-927 from Barabanki to Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh under the Hybrid Annuity Mode. The highway aims to reduce travel time to about one hour by addressing sharp curves, congestion, and geometric deficiencies, with bypasses for major towns and continuous service roads. It will enhance connectivity to economic, social, and logistics nodes, including the Rupaidiha Land Port and nearby airports, supporting cross-border trade with Nepal and boosting regional development, agri-trade, tourism, and investment in remote areas. The project is expected to generate 36.54 lakh direct and 43.04 lakh indirect person-days of employment.
