Eni and Petronas approved two deep-water gas projects in Indonesia, set to produce up to 2 billion cubic feet of gas daily starting in 2028.
Eni has approved final investment decisions for two deep-water gas projects off East Kalimantan, Indonesia—Gendalo-Gandang and Geng North-Gehem—18 months after initial approval.
The projects, expected to start production in 2028 and reach peak output by 2029, will deliver up to 2 billion cubic feet of gas and 90,000 barrels of condensate daily.
They involve 23 wells in water depths of 1,000 to 2,000 meters, using existing infrastructure and a new FPSO.
Gas will supply domestic markets and the Bontang LNG plant, which will reactivate an idle liquefaction train.
Condensate will be exported by shuttle tanker.
The developments, part of a joint venture with Petronas, support Indonesia’s energy security and Eni’s strategy to expand production to over 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2029.
