The Colts signed veteran DT Jerry Tillery and basketball-to-football convert Carson Towt to bolster defensive and tight end depth.
The Indianapolis Colts have signed veteran defensive tackle Jerry Tillery and undrafted free agent tight end Carson Towt.
Tillery, a 2019 first-round pick, joins the Colts after stints with the Chiefs, Vikings, Raiders, and Chargers, bringing experience as a rotational defensive lineman with 117 games and 14 sacks over seven NFL seasons.
At 30, he aims to compete for a role behind starters DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart.
Towt, a 6-foot-8 former college basketball player from Notre Dame and Northern Arizona, has no football experience but was signed for his size, athleticism, and rebounding ability, following a precedent set by veteran tight end Mo Alie-Cox, who also transitioned from basketball.
Both signings reflect the Colts’ strategy of adding depth through unconventional, high-upside prospects.
