Kevin Dion Hollinshead, a Charleston County School Board member, was indicted on March 17, 2026, on federal charges including bribery, bank fraud, and wire fraud.
Authorities allege he accepted a bribe in exchange for influencing a school construction project appeal and used false information to obtain nearly $45,000 in PPP loans, spending part on a medical procedure in Mexico.
Hollinshead resigned the same day and is scheduled to appear in federal court on March 18.
If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
The school district said it will follow state law to fill the vacancy and emphasized its procurement processes remain independent and transparent.
