BMW has unveiled its first global electric 3 Series, the i3, with an estimated range of up to 900km, surpassing the Tesla Model 3 Long Range. Built in Munich on the Neue Klasse platform, it features an 800-volt architecture, dual motors, and a cell-to-pack battery design. The i3 offers up to 400km of range in 10 minutes with DC fast charging, though such stations aren't yet available in Australia. It arrives in Australia in early 2027, with future variants including a wagon, M3, and lower-trim models.
