Yarmouth artist Mitchell Rasor creates ephemeral watercolor paintings in the Royal River salt marsh using natural materials as brushes and elements like ice and wind as part of his process.
Working daily in winter, he paints on floating paper, embracing the unpredictable forces of nature.
His practice, begun during the pandemic as a personal healing journey, is documented in the 15-minute film “Salt Marsh,” directed by Tom Bell and featuring a soundtrack by Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo.
The film, which won awards at international festivals, will screen at the Portland Museum of Art with an artist talk.
