Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu disbursed ₹226.61 crore in compensation to over 26,000 families displaced by the Polavaram project, marking the third installment of a larger resettlement effort.
The payment, made on Ugadi, brings total disbursements to ₹1,943 crore over 21 months.
Naidu credited the current government with accelerating progress, highlighting completed and ongoing rehabilitation colonies, repairs to a damaged diaphragm wall, and the creation of Polavaram district to prioritize the project.
He emphasized the project’s importance as a state lifeline and stated it is on track for completion within two months after next year’s Ugadi, with an additional ₹3,500 crore needed and long-term support for livelihoods and services remaining critical.
