A truck crashed into a train at a Georgia crossing, killing the driver; no crew injuries, investigation ongoing.
A fatal train crash in Powder Springs, Georgia, occurred on March 15, 2026, around 2:47 a.m. on Brownsville Road, where a 2000 Toyota Tacoma driven by 26-year-old Diego Lamothe entered a railroad crossing with arms lowered, becoming stuck.
A Norfolk Southern freight train traveling south struck the truck, pushing it along the tracks until both vehicles stopped near Lewis Road.
Lamothe was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cobb County Police Department’s STEP Unit is investigating, and no injuries were reported among the train crew.
Authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with information to contact the STEP Unit.
