Syracuse airport launches food drive for unpaid TSA workers amid shutdown; pickup changes due to construction.
Syracuse Hancock International Airport has launched a food drive to support TSA employees and their families affected by the ongoing partial government shutdown, as many workers are working without pay.
Non-perishable food items and gift cards are being collected daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Security Office near Say Si Bon or at the arrivals curbline, where volunteers assist with drop-offs.
Travelers can also donate gift cards via TSA supervisors at checkpoints.
The drive ends March 20 at midnight, with cash donations not accepted.
Meanwhile, the airport has adjusted pickup procedures starting March 16 due to a 14-month construction project, closing Arrivals B and limiting Arrivals A to pickup only, with drivers directed to the Cell Phone Lot on Eileen Collins Boulevard.
