Stephen McCullagh, 36, faces murder charges in the December 2022 death of his pregnant partner Natalie McNally, 32, who was 15 weeks pregnant when she died in Lurgan.
The prosecution concluded its case, presenting 133 days of WhatsApp messages between the couple that showed no signs of conflict or argument, though they lacked overt expressions of affection like “I love you.” Defence barrister John Kearney described the messages as loving and normal, citing poetic exchanges and plans to move in together.
The defence will not call any evidence, including McCullagh’s testimony, leaving the jury to consider inferences from his silence.
Closing arguments are set for Wednesday at Belfast Crown Court.
