Six-time WorldSBK champion Jonathan Rea will return to racing in 2026, replacing injured Jake Dixon at Honda HRC for the Portimao round.
Rea, who last raced for Honda in 2014, made his WorldSBK debut at Portimao in 2008 and won there in 2014.
After retiring at the end of 2025, he has been testing for Honda and will partner rookie Somkiat Chantra, who is set to make his WorldSBK debut.
Dixon, sidelined with wrist fractures from a pre-season crash, is expected to miss at least the Assen round.
Rea’s comeback marks a major moment in the 2026 WorldSBK season.
