Recharge Power launched five grid-scale energy storage sites in Japan, with plans to expand to 262 MW by 2027.
Recharge Power, a Taiwan-based energy storage company, has entered Japan’s electricity trading market by connecting five grid-scale storage sites—each 2 MW / 8 MWh—across the Tohoku, Chubu, and Kyushu regions, with two sites completing testing and beginning operations.
The company, the largest energy storage integrator in Taiwan by capacity, delivered the projects end-to-end, meeting Japan’s strict grid reliability and responsiveness standards.
It plans to add 38 MW / 152 MWh of capacity in 2026, pursue ultra-high-voltage projects, and reach 262 MW in Japan by 2027, using AI-driven tools to boost efficiency.
The company also supplies systems to external partners, with two projects already operational in 2025, and is preparing for a planned capital market entry.
