The Income Tax Department has launched a 24/7 control room in Guwahati to detect and prevent black money use in the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections, supporting the Election Commission’s efforts to ensure fair polls.
The facility, operating from Aayakar Bhawan, monitors unaccounted cash, bullion, and valuables during the Model Code of Conduct period.
Citizens can report credible, actionable tips anonymously via phone, WhatsApp, landline, or email with guaranteed confidentiality.
The initiative covers elections in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, involving 824 constituencies and 17.4 crore voters, with polling beginning April 9 and results on May 4.
The control room will remain active until the process ends.
