Hertfordshire proposes expanding its community supermarkets from eight to at least one per district or borough, using £220,000 from the government’s new Crisis Resilience Fund to offer up to 20 items at £1 or less per visit.
The broader £9.1 million CRF allocation for 2026–27 supports food and energy vouchers, crisis payments, financial advice, and services for vulnerable groups including young carers, care leavers, disabled children’s parents, and older adults.
Additional funding covers hot meal deliveries, home safety checks, mobility classes, transport grants, and loneliness initiatives.
The plan, which replaces the Household Support Fund, is set for final council review on March 18, 2026.
