Andhra Pradesh launched the 'Divyang Shakti' scheme on March 17, 2026, providing free bus travel to over 12.76 lakh persons with disabilities and their attendants across the state.
The initiative, inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Ugadi, offers full fare waivers for those with 40% or more disability and 50% discounts for attendants on APSRTC services.
Funded with Rs 207 crore annually, it covers 21 disability categories and was rolled out simultaneously in all constituencies, with MLAs participating in outreach events and rides.
The program, part of a broader push for inclusive governance, builds on the success of the 'Stree Shakti' scheme.
