Two Iranian nurses were allegedly tortured, raped, and killed by security forces after treating protest injured; five others arrested.
Two Iranian nurses detained in Tehran for treating injured protesters during December 2025–January 2026 demonstrations were allegedly tortured and repeatedly raped by security agents, according to Iran International.
The women, staff at Rajaei Cardiovascular Center, suffered severe internal injuries requiring major surgeries, including one who lost part of her intestine and another who had a hysterectomy.
One nurse was released after her family paid a large sum to an intelligence officer and signed a false statement blaming “rioters.” On January 8, security forces reportedly stormed the hospital, ordered medical staff to stop treating protesters, beat resistors, and shot two female nurses dead.
Five others were arrested.
The allegations contribute to ongoing international concern over Iran’s use of torture, sexual violence, arbitrary detention, and forced confessions during protest crackdowns, with past findings by Amnesty International and UN investigators documenting similar abuses.
