Telecel Ghana launched a free virtual coding program in March 2026, training 1,000 girls aged 14 to 18 as part of International Women’s Month.
The initiative, led by CEO Patricia Obo-Nai, aims to increase female participation in STEM and close the gender gap in tech.
The company hosted events featuring women in tech and finance, highlighted that 36% of its workforce are women due to intentional hiring, and reaffirmed its pledge to train 100,000 Ghanaians in coding through the government’s One Million Coders Programme.
Telecel also expanded its support for national development through its foundation and credited its first profitable year to strategic pricing and service changes.
