Springfield Preservation and Revitalization has launched the Springfield Arboretum and TreeWalks in Jacksonville’s historic Springfield neighborhood, creating the first arboretum in Duval County.
Funded by Florida Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and The Mosaic Company, the project features 35 tree identification tags with bilingual digital content and four quarterly guided tours led by experts in urban forestry, architecture, and ethnobotany.
The free, public tours explore urban biodiversity and climate-responsive design, aiming to strengthen community ties to the area’s ecological and historical heritage.
