Luzerne County fills auditor roles, launches new committees, and advances a funded drainage project with temporary easements.
Luzerne County Controller Tim McGinley’s first annual report revealed he filled two vacant auditor positions with Lauren Moritz, a CPA, and Amy Chappell, a federal credit union veteran, joining internal auditor Nancy DeFluri and Deputy Controller Tom Sokola.
McGinley emphasized follow-up on past audits and collaboration with departments and vendors.
The council approved three new committees: Operational Services, Correctional Services, and Community Planning and Development.
A drainage project in Crestwood Industrial Park, funded by American Rescue Plan Act dollars, will move forward with temporary easements for non-responsive property owners, excluding about 40% due to timeline constraints; a vote is set for March 24.
