Gujarat CM celebrates 71st birthday by serving meals under welfare scheme expanding access to workers.
Gujarat Cabinet Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya celebrated his 71st birthday by serving meals to construction workers at a Shramik Annapurna Yojana centre in Gandhinagar, highlighting the state’s welfare efforts.
The scheme, launched in 2017, provides subsidized, nutritious meals for ₹5 to registered workers and families, including roti, dal, vegetables, rice, pickles, green chilies, and gur, plus a weekly sweet.
As of 2025–26, over 1.05 crore meals were distributed, with 4.37 crore since inception across 293 centres.
Plans include 121 new centres soon and 300 more in the upcoming budget to expand access, particularly in remote areas.
The centres also offer health check-ups and first-aid.
Workers praised the program for improving food security and dignity.
