Director Sanoj Mishra accuses actress Monalisa Bhonsle of being a victim of "love jihad" after her marriage to Farman Khan, sparking political and social debate.
Film director Sanoj Mishra has accused actress Monalisa Bhonsle’s marriage to Muslim man Farman Khan in Kerala of being a "love jihad" — a claim by right-wing groups alleging coordinated efforts to convert Hindu women.
Mishra, who had cast Bhonsle in his film about religious conversion, said the marriage was premeditated, citing alleged age falsification and social pressure.
Bhonsle, known from her 2025 Kumbh Mela fame, claims she is 18 and the marriage was consensual.
Her family, including her uncle, alleges she is underage and faces social stigma.
Mishra plans to meet Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, while local BJP leaders support the family’s claims and consult legal experts.
