Adam Henson, BBC’s Countryfile host, welcomed a rare Valais Blacknose lamb on his Cotswolds farm, prized for its unique appearance and high price.
On March 15, 2026, BBC’s Countryfile presenter Adam Henson welcomed a rare Valais Blacknose lamb on his Cotswolds farm, calling it “one of the cutest lambs I’ve ever seen.” The breed, native to the Swiss Alps and introduced to the UK around 2014, is valued for its distinctive black nose, ears, and silky wool rather than meat production.
Unlike typical market lambs selling for £120–130, the ornamental Valais Blacknose is expected to fetch £500–600.
Henson expressed joy over the birth, highlighting the growing popularity of rare breeds among hobby farmers, while also noting the farm’s larger operations, including 250 commercial ewes and 100 native rare breed sheep.
