Zimbabwe posthumously honored former official Cosmas Chiringa as a national hero for his liberation and public service.
Cosmas Chiringa, a former Permanent Secretary for Harare Provincial Affairs and Devolution, has been posthumously declared a national hero by Zimbabwe’s Zanu-PF party and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The honor, approved by the party’s Politburo and announced by Minister Charles Tawengwa, recognizes Chiringa’s role in the liberation struggle and his decades of public service.
Chiringa, who died at 67 from heart failure, was praised by colleagues and family for his dedication to national development and government programs.
He is survived by his wife, four children, and six grandchildren.
Burial arrangements are pending.
