A 21-year-old man pleads not guilty to attempted murder after a January 2025 shooting in Newcastle left a man with a neck wound.
Angus Osborne, 21, has pleaded not guilty in Newcastle Local Court to charges stemming from a January 24, 2025, shooting in Waratah West, Newcastle, where a 36-year-old man suffered a neck wound.
Prosecutors allege Osborne fired a weapon with intent to cause serious harm.
The victim, treated at Calvary Mater Hospital and later transferred to another facility, was reported in stable condition.
Police, operating under Strike Force Fontana, arrested Osborne the next day during a vehicle stop on Minmi Road in Maryland, seizing a firearm, ammunition, and other weapons.
He also denies charges of possessing a shortened firearm and ammunition without authority but admitted to possessing knuckledusters without consent.
Magistrate Janine Lacey has committed him to stand trial at Newcastle District Court, with his first appearance set for next month.
