Two former HHS employees founded WellFed, a support network for 300,000+ federal workers fired during Trump’s 2025 efficiency drive, offering job help and advocacy.
Rebecca Ferguson-Ondrey and Drew Ruby-Howe, former U.S. Department of Health and Human Services employees, co-founded WellFed, a national support network for over 300,000 federal workers dismissed during the second Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency initiative.
Starting with 20 people, the volunteer-led group has grown to nearly 5,000 members, offering workshops on resumes, finances, and mental health, and advocating for affected workers on Capitol Hill.
About a quarter of members have found new jobs, and both founders say helping others has been key to their own healing amid the emotional toll of losing their roles and sense of purpose.
