A New Jersey corrections lieutenant is indicted for stealing and selling state ammunition, evading taxes, and structuring cash transactions over six years.
A New Jersey corrections lieutenant, formerly the state’s Range Master, has been indicted on 24 charges for allegedly stealing state-owned ammunition from four correctional gun ranges and a training academy between 2019 and 2025, reselling it on the black market for over $475,000.
Prosecutors say he ordered excess rounds under false pretenses, sold them in cash transactions—including sealed bundles of $10,000 in $100 bills—and avoided bank reporting rules by making multiple small withdrawals.
He is also accused of failing to report more than $418,000 in income and evading state taxes from 2020 to 2024.
Charges include theft, official misconduct, tax evasion, and structuring transactions.
State officials called the alleged scheme a serious breach of public trust.
