Nagaland’s MP urges faster approval for the $1.1B Trans-Nagaland Highway to boost connectivity and development.
Nagaland’s Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir has urged the Union Government to fast-track approval of the 395-kilometer Foothills Road, also known as the Trans–Nagaland Highway, during a Lok Sabha session.
The project, estimated at Rs 9,000 crore, aims to connect 103 towns and villages across key districts, benefiting over 1.1 million people by reducing travel time and eliminating repeated interstate crossings.
Phase I, covering 180.656 km from Dimapur to Tuli, has already been submitted with a cost of Rs 3,284.06 crore.
Jamir emphasized its importance for regional integration, economic development, and achieving Nagaland’s vision of becoming a ‘Viksit Nagaland’ by 2047.
