King Alfred’s Academy Year 7 students won the Cambrian Learning Trust Maths Feast after a tense, four-round competition.

A team of Year 7 students from King Alfred’s Academy in Wantage won the Cambrian Learning Trust’s Maths Feast, a problem-solving competition involving 36 students from three schools. Held on Tuesday, the event featured four rounds on geometry, code-breaking, logical reasoning, and pattern recognition, emphasizing teamwork and creativity. Supported by sixth formers, the students showed resilience in a closely contested match that saw the lead change multiple times before King Alfred’s Academy claimed victory. The trust praised the event for building confidence and curiosity in mathematics beyond the classroom.
