Indian foreign minister visits Brussels for talks on India-EU ties and regional security.
At the invitation of EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar embarked on a two-day visit to Brussels on March 15, 2026, where he attended the Foreign Affairs Council alongside EU foreign ministers and held bilateral discussions to fortify India's strategic partnership with the EU in the wake of the 16th India-EU Summit.
He spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi for the fourth time during the visit, covering bilateral relations, BRICS cooperation, maritime safety, and energy security, especially stable shipping and energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz amid regional tensions.
Indian officials emphasized the importance of secure trade routes, while Congress MP Shashi Tharoor welcomed India’s diplomatic efforts to promote peace in West Asia.
