Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel laid the foundation for a Rs 1,100 crore development project in tribal districts Panchmahal and Dahod on March 15, 2026, including a Rs 406 crore lift irrigation scheme to deliver water to 130 lakes across 79 villages via a 205-km pipeline, enabling irrigation for nearly 86,000 hectares.
The initiative supports healthcare, education, roads, and water infrastructure, with the state allocating Rs 485 crore for lift irrigation in tribal areas.
Patel highlighted that over 203,000 acres in the tribal belt now have irrigation access through 11 lift schemes.
He urged Dahod, an aspirational district, to become a model for development.
The event included state ministers, MPs, MLAs, officials, and tribal families.
