In 2024, life expectancy in the European Union reached 81.5 years, up slightly from 2023 and above pre-pandemic levels, with women living an average of 84.1 years—5.2 years longer than men.
Spain’s women had the highest life expectancy in Europe at 86.5 years, followed by those in Switzerland, France, and Italy.
