The Tyrone History Museum in Pennsylvania reopens for Irish Heritage weekend after a seven-month closure, featuring new exhibits and a model train.
The Tyrone History Museum in Pennsylvania reopens Saturday and Sunday as part of an Irish Heritage celebration, its first public opening since May.
The museum, which houses about 15,000 items including rare artifacts and a potentially oldest-known copy of the Bugle Blast, features a new 1,800-square-foot addition with exhibits on local schools, military history, railroads, and the Walter L. Main Circus Train Wreck.
A custom G-gauge model train runs on tracks built by museum president Bob Dollar.
Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, it will resume regular Wednesday and Sunday hours through mid-November.
Admission is free, donations accepted.
The Tyrone Area Historical Society offers memberships and merchandise, and shares live Amtrak footage on YouTube.
