Tougaloo College named Mississippi native Dr. Corey Wiggins its 15th president, effective July 1, 2026.
Tougaloo College has appointed Dr. Corey Wiggins, a Mississippi native and federal co-chair of the Delta Regional Authority, as its 15th president, effective July 1, 2026.
Selected after a national search, Wiggins succeeds Dr. Donzell Lee and brings extensive experience in public policy, economic development, and civil rights advocacy.
He previously led the Mississippi NAACP, directed over $300 million in federal investments, and held academic and leadership roles at institutions including Jackson State University and the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The college’s board praised his commitment to academic excellence, student success, and institutional integrity, aligning with Tougaloo’s historic mission as a historically Black college founded in 1869.
