The restored Bluebird K7 returns to Coniston Water for a public festival and test runs from May 11–17, 2026.
This spring, the restored Bluebird K7 hydroplane, famously piloted by Donald Campbell, returns to Coniston Water for the first time since its 2025 recovery and restoration.
From May 11–17, the free Bluebird Festival will feature up to eight test runs daily on the lake, weather permitting, allowing public access to the vessel and its engineering teams.
Events centered at the Coniston Boating Centre include exhibits at the Bluebird Museum and The Ruskin Museum, highlighting the Campbell family’s legacy in speed record attempts.
Supported by a Cumbria Tourism grant, the festival aims to boost local tourism and honor Coniston’s historical significance.
