Noel Logan sentenced to four years for making pipe bombs that exploded near homes in 2017–2019; DNA tied him to all three devices.
Noel Logan, 38, of Derry’s Waterside, was sentenced to four years in prison for possessing three pipe bombs that exploded outside homes between 2017 and 2019.
Forensic evidence linked his DNA to tape on all three devices, with match probabilities of one in a billion and one in 1.7 million.
The crude explosives, made of copper piping, gun propellant, and shrapnel, were deemed highly dangerous.
Logan denied involvement, claiming he used the tape for 12 July flag displays, but prosecutors rejected this, noting he refused to answer questions.
The original eight-and-a-half-year sentence was reduced by six months due to trial delays.
He will serve an additional four years on supervised licence.
No one was injured.
