Nigerian IMN held peaceful pro-Palestinian protests in northern cities on International Al-Quds Day, marking Khamenei’s death, amid heightened security and U.S. warnings.
On Friday, members of Nigeria’s banned Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) held peaceful protests in Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, and other northern cities to mark International Al-Quds Day, expressing solidarity with Palestinians and mourning Iran’s late supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Demonstrators, including women and children, waved Iranian flags, carried portraits of Khamenei, and chanted anti-U.S. and anti-Israel slogans, though organizers denied reports of Khamenei’s death.
The rallies, part of a global observance, occurred amid heightened security and a U.S. Embassy alert due to past violent clashes.
Authorities blocked previous demonstrations, and traffic was disrupted by checkpoints.
The event coincided with escalating Middle East tensions following Iran’s recent attacks on Israel.
