Skeletal remains found October 10, 2025, behind a Murfreesboro Pike strip mall in Nashville have been identified as Matthew Edward Madewell, 40, last seen in late 2024. DNA testing confirmed the identity after a tip led a community policing officer to the site, where the remains were found in a plastic bag in a wooded area. Authorities believe Madewell may have lived near Trinity Lane or worked for a construction company building downtown hotels. The Metro Nashville Police Cold Case Unit is seeking information about his final days and asks the public to call 615-862-7329. The investigation continues.
